Eagles of the Palearctic
Study and Conservation: Third International Scientific and Practical Conference, September 24–29, 2023 in Almaty, Kazakhstan
All Eurasian eagle species are relatively rare, and, consequently, their conservation requires joint efforts by the countries where the birds breed, migrate, and overwinter. Conservation planning requires examination of species population status and existing threats.
During the conference we discussed the current situation, negative factors, and methods of studying and conserving eagles, as well as discussed strategies for the conservation of the most vulnerable species.
The focus of the 2023 conference was the development of practical actions to balance out negative factors affecting predators in steppe and desert regions, including bird mortality on power grid infrastructure, poisoning, and inadequate food supply in both nesting areas and on migration routes.
